Reviews - Hugo 3

As the third part in this little block of gaming nostalgia, I'm going to do a review of Hugo 3, the last of the series that was actually an adventure game.

Hugo 3 takes the story straight from Hugo 2, where after leaving the player becomes stranded on a island when thier plane crashes. Penelope gets bitten by a spider, and that starts a strange chain of events that... honestly, dosen't make alot of sense. The graphics are beautifull, and the animations are a nice change from the 5 pixel floating torch animations from the previous games.

The story starts with hugo getting stranded across a chasm from his plane while searching for a cure for Penelope. This is the first game, and last, that Mr. Grey decided that "let's make the game go into a no-win condition right from the start!". You need ot grab the sandwich, flask, bullion cubes and other things, or else you will loose. At first it prompts you to go back but you can proceed without grabing one of the items, that you really need!

The quest is along the veign of the waters of life, and it takes forever to get across a simple stream, get the water(which you can drink... hello unwinnable state #2) and get it back to penelope before you can leave. I think.

It's a nice little game, but don't expect it to ammuse you for more then a hour.
